Axe repair?

Found this axe that appear to have been broken and then repaired. Can't quite fiqure out how the repaired axe would function

I dont see a repair , just one side broken out and back folded over. Someone probably tried to use it as a wedge hit it on the back and crushed it.

Just seems like a very clean/rounded brake

I've never broke an axe and don't know how clean they can break? Wouldn't the iron have to be reheated in order to bend it this way?

I have broke them like that when i was young and hadnt learned to respect my tools. Here is one i dug awhile back some one has beat on, the side didnt come out like yours but you can see if it would have how the other side would have folded over.

We find them broken and used for wedges in breaking rock more than we find good ones,I will post a pic of a few if you would like to see em??

That would be great kuger Rock breaking wedge would be a good function for a broken axe

Yea,it was ,as I said we find more of them used for that purpose than we do complete ones!I usually dont even bring them home but have a couple and will get some pics when I get home.
