Well, I'm back searching for the old stuff in that old site I have been messing with. So far, 8 coins in the 1800's in the last 7 days. Not as many indians as some previous hunts, but the nickels are showing back up. I'm looking forward to getting out there for a little while this weekend and hopefully coming up with something.
As of now, I have:
2 indian head cents= 1887 & 1889
1 dateless shield nickel
3 V-nickels=1889, 1883, 1898
1 seated dime= 1886
1 barber dime= 1892
I know some of these coins arent coming out looking that great, but they are still old and I love digging old stuff!!

Those are all nice finds man.

Too bad the soil is tearing them up. I get coins like that very often around here. But hey I take them in any condition.

Very nice coils... and I'll agree, that's unfortunate about the soil conditions they were in.
But they're still nice coins though!!

That place still producing and like you say,it's great to dig old stuff.Nice finds!

good stuff, JRS.
looks like there could be a seated hiding there somewhere.

looks like the 'seated' was in a fire, still proves your in the right area, keep going :headbang:

Excellent Finds! :hello2:

I noticed that barber dime has a reverse side that is almost perfect, but the obverse is pretty ruff? I wonder if it sat in the ground with the obverse exposed to rain water sinking down? I've seen other dug silver with the same effect ???

realy nice old coins id keep them like you like old stuff :hello:

I have to agree with crusader....It looks like the coins have been through a fire. But still WELL-DONE

I think the buildup and corrosion is maybe caused by limestone rock. It also seems like it was wet ground for a long time. I'll let you all know what this site is once i'm finished with it. Until then, i'm digging these old bast_rds!! 8)

Great finds! It's rare to see IH's and V's in better shape than silver. I vote fire.
