I was able to detect for perhaps 5 hours total at Onslow. I am impressed with it's sensitivity and depth in the sand for sure and really enjoyed not having the screen read-out that my old Spectrum had, believe it or not. I dug more obviously though. I found 3 nickels which was a good sign, one was about 6 inches in the wet sand. I found one ring, a Triton Titanium, black wedding band. It was in the wet sand just higher than the waves washing in. That and about $1 in change was it. I am happy with the ring though. I had not found a ring at the beach with my Spectrum in my many hours with it as I probly watched the meter numbers too much. The titanium ring was not the high pitched tone either, it was a lower tone, but I dug everything so I could get the feel for the GT. Anyway, that was my first beach trip with the GT and I am happy with it. Hunting the beach is a science anyway, timing is everything not to mention location, and I do not have alot of beach experience, I just know that low tide is about the best time, aside from storms. Congrats on the find and the new Sov GT, I love mine. I put the 15 inch WOT on it and it is great. I had it at a playground tonight on way home as my usual park detector was sent in for work. I ended up with a little over $3.00 in clad and a nice silver earring that was about 8 inches down. When the Sov found it there was no doubt that it was something nice by the tone.

I did put a meter I got off of Ebay on my Sov, but I hunt by tone by habit, and just use the meter as extra info. With 2 Excals and the Sov I am use to the tones.

Good Luck and Good Hunting ;)
