Nice finds ... that's a sharp looking badge ... congratz ~ Jimmy

Hey Mike

Once you get all of that copper out of the ground then you can look for the big stuff. Hopefully "Fort Ord" is not an abbreviation for "Fort Ordinance"... ony kidding

Hope you find a bajillion things there

Thanks for sharing with us

Ft. Ord was my last duty station and the location where I retired from the Army. I know it was closed down and that there is a College Campus and other things that are there now.

There are lots of old range areas there.

Did anyone give you any grief about being there? Who patrols the area now relative to law enforcement?

Good luck on your future hunts.

Jim

hey jim fort ord has changed alot they are starting to do alot of building on and around ft ord. its cool if you hunt certain areas like around the barracks. as long as you dont go into the buildings nobody really bothers you. they have a security patrol .. patrolling the place. ive never been harrassed by anyone... in fact i found alot of my items right by the barracks and college off 7th st..

It's always nice to find wheats, old toy cars and military crest. I was stationed at Ft. Ord from 1975 to 1977, and I have been intending to make it up there to do some hunting, but the hunting is too good down here right now to take a road trip :). HH and keep looking on Fort Ord.

Good finds Happy Mike!!!

I was born in Fort Ord! My dad was stationed there! Dec 19, 1964 ;D

Great badge!! Congrats on all those finds!

Nana :)

That's a lot of pennies, Mike! Did you find any pocket spills, or dig them individually?

:o i always wanted to MD the beach and the officers club there. hint hint ::)

Good deal Mike. The older barracks were near the interstate when I was there. I am assuming that is where you are hunting. There was an old theater that backed up the interstate just north of the main entrance of the fort. That may be a good spot for you to try if you haven't already and it is still there. Is Stillwell Hall still located there? They probably tore it down also. It was on the shore of the Bay.

I really like the old fort. I enjoyed the area. Clint Eastwood was the Mayor of Carmel when I was there and it was nothing to see him walking the streets of Carmel. My second son was born there. Lots of memories.

Let us know what you find on future hunts.

Jim

Hey Mike,
It would be too cool to hunt Ft. Ord...when I graduated high school back in 88' my Brother-n-law was stationed there and my sister sent me a ticket to fly out there for the summer, but i ended up staying till march of 89'.
Is the old Burger King and residential housing still there? Would be a ton of yards to hunt..She lived on Metz Rd down from Ardennes Circle.
I remember walking up to the street behind her house and could see Monterey Bay on a clear day..it was nice .. I worked at Stone Pine in Carmel Valley for a few months. Wish I could go back with my wife and show her places out there...
