Got up early again and made the long trip to the park where I found the SLQ last week and merc and ring last Friday. I wanted to concentrate around the scout house that I was told about. There was a lot of trash where the cabin used to sit so I slowed down and took my time looking for signals that was masked with the trash. I got one good penny signal that was also reading trash. I dug about 6" and the pinpointer said it was still in the hole. So I dug about a 2" plug out and seen that it was a penny. I couldn't tell if it was an Indian head or a wheat but I knew it was not a memorial. I gently rubbed the back and could tell it was a wheat. Several pieces of trash was also in the hole. I also found a lead ball. I was about a mile from some known civil war activity but I had no idea I was going to find anything in the park. I also found some brass piece that I am unsure about. I did not hunt too long as the rains forced me to my car a couple of times. The wheat turned out to be 1944 after I cleaned it up some.
