Hey everyone,
Got out early Saturday morning with my Dad for his first hunt.
He has never used a detector before for more than 5 minutes or so.
The heat has been really brutal lately. It's 95 here today.
We went to one of my spots in the woods. He didn't make any finds but he was finding metal.
So that was a good sign. The terrain is very rough and rugged here. He couldn't handle it to Long and headed out of these woods and hit some grassy area's.
He's 52 I'm 25 so I understood.
I stayed in the woods along a nice little creek. Picking up trash and the occasional relic.
About 10 minutes into the hunt I dug the wheat and the buffalo like one after another.
We spent about 2 hrs there because the heat is just to much.
After about a hr or so into the hunt I get a really nice signal at 6.5 inches. I dig it out check the pile it's out.
I knew it was a good target before I even recovered it. I swept away some dirt and saw a small grey disc. I knew it was silver. All the silver and coins from this area are ruff for the most part.
The dime was a low mintage 3.4 million 1905 O mint mark barber. If it wasn't all eaten up it would have been in pretty good shape.
We met back up and decided it was enough for the day.
I wanted to go out Sunday but the heat is unreal. You have to be out at like 6 am or at like 7 pm.
When this heat wave gets over I'll get back out.
Thanks for looking,
HH Jer
