Bad Coil ? Is there to find out W/O sending it off?

I got an XLT that's on it's last legs, Numerous small problems.
I there a way to tell if my 900 blue max coil is bad with out sending it in.

Have you tried a web search? I haven't read these, as I'm overdue for bed!! But I did a search for how to test a coil for a metal detector and got quite a few results back. One of the results was a Google patent on testing the resistance of a metal detector coil. Another is a YouTube video about How to repair a faulty metal detector coil:

Try a different coil, if your problems go away then the problem is most likely your blue max coil.
