Yes very nice button. It’s most likely an 1812 era flat button with an eagle on the back. Good job and keep it up!!!

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Florida Finder is correct... your find is a brass 1-piece "plain front" flatbutton with an 1812 era backmark which included a droop-winged eagle -- supposedly, to symbolize it was made in the US rather than British-made. During the War-of-1812 (US versus Britain) and for about 10 years afterward, patriotic Americans boycotted British products. However, we know for certain that British manufacturers tried to evade the boycott by falsely marking their products as being American-made.

Thanks cannonballguy. Who knows what else I can find there. I've really been hitting this place with smaller coils recently the signals are majority masked or weak now. Really got to slow things down. I'm thinking of opening a new door and getting a large coil for the depth

Nice Flat button, always nice to find a button with good back marks.

I've found a few like that too, it's definitely an interesting button find!!

wow, very nice save, wtg

20210629_081616.webp it cleaned up very nice.

Nice button!!! Preserve that bad boy!

Whistler, Congrat's on the save of that very nice button. It's a Beaut. The button is in good condition and it did indeed clean up really nice. This button will look great in your display.

That's the best back of a button I've ever seen! They used the droop-winged eagle even before 1812. Here's a pair of pre-war of 1812 NY Militia buttons I found a few years back, with the same type of eagle:

Keep hitting that area, it's probably OLD old. Great job!
