Went back to that spot I prospected yesterday and managed to pull out the 1906 full liberty dime. One of the best I've dug to date.

After about an hour, D-Dub and I looked at each other and we both had the same thing in mind....Lets go to the "junkyard!"

Shortly upon our arrival, we start hitting the wheaties....so we know theres silver lurking nearby.

D-Dub gets on the board here first, but I'll let him tell you about that. (Congrats on all those pocket spills) ;D

Then I get a solid 12-46/47 at about 5" next to an old tree. I go to dig, and nothing but roots. Sh*t! I say to myself, so away I go hacking away at the roots only to see something silver out of the hole next to my shovel. I see it's big, and I know it's a quarter. I was expecting a Standing Liberty, but to my surprise its an 1899 worn Barber quarter. I did scratch it a little bit, but it's not my fault. I blame it on the roots. Enjoy and HH!

Also got 4 wheaties and the 1936 Canadian Mapley.

WOW!! Yours wasn't too shabby ;D

Awesome job Jon!!!

I was jealous when I read that you were going to a place that might had seated... so, instead of going to a place with a high probability of a merc, I tried an old cellar hole I had been researching --- needless to say, 4 hours of skunk for me today...

Congrats on your Barbers, that's what I was shooting for today. I'll get you next time ...

BTW ... IS this "junkyard" the same "junkyard" that kermit hit?

Great finds Jon! I would have killed to get out today, what a day. Oh well.

Nice silvers and Canuck cent. Sounds like a pretty good junkyard!

Joe

Holy Cow! That would have really made my day.

Great hunting L4S!!!

:laughing7:
One has a love hate relationship with this place. Kermit says he hates it due to the trash, and I love it. I've found more silvers here than anywhere else I've hunted.

So, yes, I believe this is the same "junkyad" maybe just in a different place.

Well it seems its all about location, where I have hunted several upon several times in the past alone and with others have just produced a poultry handfull of keepers between the lot of us, but at your spot on the north side it appears is filled to the brim with keepers. Congrats and a toast to your continued success at the junkyard. :icon_pirat:

Dang I just re-read your post, you were scouting the place out yesterday. Man I wish you would of seen my car (we were hunting on the north side too) then you could of gave me and Paul a headsup for some old silver, maybe next time. :'(

Great find you got there!! Thought about calling this spot Barberyard? HH DFW

Congrats, You may need to rename the "Junkyard" if it keeps producing like that. Junk=people=dropped silver.

Funny you should say that. I actually saw a black C*6&# C@#$%*^, and right away I was like I think that's TF. But then I realized it didn't have the USMC sticker on it, and then I passed the guy, gave him a stare down, and the poor old man driving that thing almost sh*t his pants.

Congrats on those outstanding finds, Jon!!!

That dime is sure a sweetie!

It makes me glad you've got a camera again.
