Barrel tap but how old...

Hey y'all. So I found this barrel tap in the winter at a colonial, rev war, and cw plantation site. Wondering if anyone has an idea about how old it might be. Also any cleaning tips for it. I just toothpicked it but maybe some oil might help it.

Not sure about yours but Im sure its a whiskey tap like this one... 80 to 100 years possibly..

Looks like several I have found at colonial site. I'm pretty sure that dates to the 1700s, or early 1800s at the latest. I would clean it with warm peroxide.

Agreed, I don't think they changed the form very much from the 18th-19th C.
