Baton Rouge to Greenwell civil war escape route

I just read the book A Confederate Girl's Diary. It describes a family that lived on a plantation in Baton Rouge during the Civil War. Among other things it describes how they left Baton Rouge to escape the battle, taking a road to Greenwell. It sounds like a mass exodus with all taking whatever belongings they could manage to carry. If I were in the area, I would certainly do a little research to find out where that path might be. I am sure it would be a blanket of artifacts. I was getting ready to put the book up for auction but thought I would mention the lead for anyone in that area.

Could be Greenwell Springs Road. Confederate troops marched along that road on the way to and from the Battle of Baton Rouge. However, I cannot confirm if it was called Greenwell Springs Road at that time.
