Battery for Gold Striker

Aquired a Gold Stiker from a friend. It no longer has a battery and I'm having trouble finding one. I was wondering if a 12V 4500mAh Side by Side Flat NiMH Battery Pack from a rc car (looks like 5 cell) would work and changing the end to a dc adapter. I also saw a Sun Ray 12v 1650mAh NIMH battery pack (10 cell) that had the proper dc adapter already. Any suggestions
