We hit a new part of the battlefield and digging buddy had his best military button day since the 1980s! He managed to corner the market with 14 Eagle buttons (Coats and cuffs). They were in two groups, 20 feet apart. No other uniform pieces, though.

We had been in the woods for literally 30 seconds and Mudduck said, "Freeze. Ease to your left . . ." Of course, I LOOKED to the right. This guy didn't like me disturbing him.

I managed a small iron CS grape shot, a Gardner, a couple of Enfields and a couple of small frags. My find of the day (Ironically from the day BEFORE) was a very nice New York Coat button. Cleaned up with lots of gilt left on it. Really a detailed survivor.

Mudduck had a great day with a brass belt keeper w/leather still attached, a pressure plate and a lead loading plug, both from Cannonballs, and some nice bullets and a few frags.

In addition to his buttons, digging buddy found a nice kitchen knife with wood handles still intact, a brass belt hook, a Springfield musket wrench, a nice larger grape shot and a bunch of bullets and frags. This guy OWNS an XP Deus, but prefers to hunt with a 1980s vintage 6-button Nautilus, which he did today. And STILL cleaned the clocks of me (Tejon) and Mudduck (Deus). This guy can SMELL relics and always puts his coil over the right spot. Plus, the Lunatic digs EVERYTHING.
