I had to take a break for a week or so because
of a sciatica attack. :(

It's ok though, I really didn't cotton to the idea
of digging thru rock hard, sun dried ground under
a merciless sun anyway!

So, today I went to a place where I *knew* digging would
be minimal, to test things out. Did ok and had a wonderful
surprise or two along the way.

I was truly trying to unmask targets in a very heavily hunted
iron field around an old house.

The sun had just disappeared behind a cloud and the temperature
dropped approximately 30 degrees while it's hiding. ;) So, the iffy signal
I was trying to work became a dig. Lo and behold! The sun popped out
at the same time I saw this:

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! This meant more to me than you guys know.
For you see, I haven't found a silver coin since February!!

Now, I haven't been "hurting" for silver. So far this year I have
found *better* than 100 grams of sterling! A pretty fair chunk!
But......no coins! :BangHead: And THAT is the reason I go out there!!

An aside to this find is that when I decided to go today I had mentioned
to the Lord that if I could just find one-single-decent-old-coin-of-any-kind.
And , not have my back hurting would make me a very happy camper! :)

So, after I found this and thanked Him profusely, I did have the thought
come mind; "Wonder if this was just a fluke."

Lo and behold......again!!

This pops out!

Now......just how about them apples!! LOLOL

Here's the day's take:

The pile on the right? What I dug today.

The pile on the left? Coinstar! :tongue3::dontknow:

This piece is interesting. The first picture, (front), is magnetic
I *think* I see a design. The reverse? Lead seal? ???

I do believe I like Fishy's choice best. ;)

Thanks for peeking!

Congratualtions on the nice silver hunt! :occasion14: Fishy is enjoying the two big silvers and Blingie is lost in a sea of clad, but seems happy.

Yep that's a lead seal, I find plenty of similar ones near the railway. Always a decent find, especially when there is a company name to investigate.

But enough about lead, congrats on the SILVER! I haven't found a SLQ in years, and I'm always looking. Very nice WHADI!

Wow, great double silver quarter day!

Love it when the Lord blesses. Bummer the standing has no date but that is fairly typical. Nice finds!

I don't know anything about lead seals. Is it typical to have magnetic metal on it ?

Standing Liberty Quarter = Nice Reward

Congrats, my friend. That turned out to be a nice hunt. It has ben too hot here to get out this week. Maybe tomorrow morning while it is still bearable.

great day for sure, congrats on the awesome silver!

Congrats on the silver GW and SLQ nice finds all around

Thanks!

Congrats on the silvers, makes for a great day digging out a few in one hunt.
Bale seals could have a wire end that ran through them, and when it was compressed it made the stamp/impression on the lead and sealed the wire together. Always a welcomed find for me as there is so many different types.

Two very nice coins you found. I like the other finds also. HH

Thanks for the info! This one almost looks like a cap on one side and lead on the other.

Yes I find them sometimes with wires as well, and there are probably many configurations including other metals.

Double silver coins!!! And a Standing Liberty to boot!!
Congrats!!!

I told ya your silver coins would appear. You just had to ask.

Life should be that simple, right.

Looks like Blingie is making plans to go to Chuck E Cheese!
Guess he's taking a break from the bling!

Fishy saw his chance for a silver coin, score!

Well that was a walk worth taking.
I bet that silver really sparkled when the sun came out.

We've had almost a week of heat wave, and the ground is turning grey. But tomorrow will be cloudy (yeah!) and Monday we get rain.
So all should be well in my detecting world....as long as all the body parts cooperate.

Never hurts to ask....be specific tho, He has quite a sense of humor!

Well done WHADI!!!

Great finds. I'm still trying to find my first SLQ, I'm Jealous!

Yes!

Ya know....about the date? After 6 months without a silver coin? I couldn't care less! :)

THANKS!

Congrats on ending your silver coin drought Whadi. Thats a nice pair of quarters, and I really like those Standing Libertys.

If you study one closely, it really os a work of art. One of the most beautiful coins this country has produced IMO in the top 10. Too bad they wore out so quickly, it is hard to find a good crisp example. In gem state they are absolute stunners
