I'm back from my grand daughters band camp in Red Lodge, MT. That's a two and a half days drive for me at my age. Shucks, it takes 8 hours to get across Oregon. Going I was in a toot, so didn't take many pictures, but coming home I took my time and took some pictures. From Red Lodge I crossed Bear Tooth Pass, entered Yellowstone Park at the north east entrance, then drove across the park to West Yellowstone. It was worth the extra time to go that way, the weather was gorgeous, and the scenery worth a million dollars. Bear Tooth pass is over 9000 feet, and my 79 year old flat lander heart struggled a bit, but it all worked out.
This is a view of the Bear Tooth Mountains heading up to the pass.
This is a view looking down at the road.
Looking down the hill at a couple of high country lakes.
Just one of the switch backs on the road toward the pass.
Out here this critter is called a "rock marmot, or rock chuck." Probably related to a wood chuck. I was taking a picture of the lakes, and I think he came up to see if I had anything for him to eat.
The view from the pass looking towards Yellowstone Park.
