Yep, Illinois is full of these!!!! By me we the fossils,, they are fun too.

Looking Good...

Nice points.I always keep my eyes open for these when around fresh dirt or excavation sites.

Do you have any info on the age and type these are? The small ones are nice, do you have any more pics of the bottom piece in the pic of 5 pieces.....Thanks for Showing..
BILLT.

Great saves Rich! Those pieces are sweet!

Just for grins, you might want to take your detector and swing some of those fields.
You might find some float copper nuggets and/or some Copper Culture artifacts since
you're so close to the glaciated terminal moraine areas of the state.

Nice stuff!

Nice points , the larger one looks like a spear point...Its not hard to get hooked on hunting these, especially if you have a spot that produces..

Found this one yesterday also
I think it's a Hemphill, 5,000-7,000 BP or a Turin, 7,500-8,500 BP

those are nice finds rich, miss hunting with you guys.

Wow very nice...BillT.

Nice points I am always looking for them when out in fields detecting. I wanted to chime in on Watercolors comment on float copper. I live in and around the a lot of the glacier end moraine area of the state. Last summer I was detecting a small kame that was never plowed. Anyway I found a 35 lb. nugget of pure float copper. Almost consists of no rock pure copper, at the top of the hill about 8" down. When I found it I knew it was copper but didn't know anything about it, how it got there or where it came from. Needs less to say I look closely at any "hot rock" I find from now on. And I have found a few small half rock/ copper pieces in the last year were as before I would of thought were hot rocks. Neat stuff, just wanted to share my float copper find story. Here are a few pics 010.webp 011.webp 004.webp
