Detector(s) used
Tesoro, Fisher
really like this detector. :icon_thumright: The meter shows all the info about the target in both the All Metal mode and Disc mode. No need to switch modes to see target depth or target ID. Decent depth too, gets dimes at 6 inches or more, ID's them correctly to 6 inches deep. Recently bought a used Golden uMax for jewelry hunting. :icon_thumright: Love those 4 tones, and the adjustable notch really comes in handy when searching for jewelry. In my test garden I have a dime buried 5", penny 6", and quarter 6". The Golden ID's each one correctly with a high tone. Had a Vaquero for two years before I bought the Cortes, has one tone and no meter. I didn't like thumbing the knobs to get an ID, so not for me, but was deeper than the Cortes. Love my two Tesoros.

I bought a Cortes a couple of months ago, but only got it out for its first good workout this last weekend. After owning an XLT (too heavy) and an F4, which I hated, I am absolutely enjoying the Cortes. I like the 95 VDI for coins and when its combined with the sum tones, its pretty easy to tell what's underfoot. I used it along the water's edge at the beach and it was as stable as could be. I found a bunch of quarters even though they were surrounded by junk.

Its also SO comfortable. Even though I hadn't been out much, I swung it for around six hours and never had to switch arms because it was getting too heavy.

And last, but not least, it found me a outstanding 23k gold chain and a heavy duty silver ring, so its passed the "finds good stuff" test as well.

I've been using my cortes for a while now. It is indeed a great detector, light weight, accurate and deep enough for me. I have found silver rings, civil war 3 ringer and tons of coins, a 1900 V nickel being the oldest.
