Bell identification

My buddy found this bell today at a 1750’s house site. Appears to be hand engraved with possible Chinese writing. . Any idea age, identity?

Looks like a bell of Sarna, from India. Is there any writing inside?

No writing on the inside

The first Chinese immigrants didn't arrive in the US until the 1820's. I'm thinking it's probably a 19th century ceremonial bell of some sort. Most of the one's I've seen are much more ornate, though.
