Benedict & Burnham Mfg Co

Went to an old homesite in the woods today. Pickings were slim, so I left and started hitting every spot that was flat enough for a house. Stopped at one place and the first thing I saw was an old well. Found a few things before I had to leave. One lock, axe, part of a spoon, What I think is an old ring that was flattened and a couple of coins. The coolest thing I found was the thumb wheel to a whale oil lamp made by Benedict & Burnham Mfg Co. I didn't know who they were so I did a little research. Very interesting. Take a look at the link below if you would like to know more.

jgas...The coins are an indian and what I think is a toasted wheatie. I think the indian is 1884. Needs cleaning.

I think that the holed item is the turner off an oil lantern. I know scovill made wick turners--but didn't know that B & B did...

Yep...That's what is so interesting about it. I didn't know the history behind Waterbury until today.

Interesting and neat finds! The IH clean up at all? Looks like there might have been some detail left on it in that pic.

Congrats and thanks for sharing!
