Best and Worst of The Day

I got out today to the same second Seminole war fort I?ve been digging the last few months. I knew it might be a good day because my first hole had a cuff sized 1820 great coat button that was intact. Man I was stoked. I poked around for another hour and pulled up and old knife, an iron buckle and on top of the ground was the remnant of a period pipe stem.
Now for the bad! I got a decent signal around an old oak tree and started to dig. The next thing I know is that I had quite a few yellow jackets buzzing my head. These old legs can?t quite keep up anymore so after a 20 yard sprint I fell to the ground and I?m being swarmed. Kudos to the yellow jackets though because somehow I only got stung by one of them. Man it still hurts! I thought about leaving and going home but after a few minutes my drive to find more relics outweighed my want to leave.
I piddled around for another 30 minutes or so. And yes, nowhere near that tree. My last dig I got an iffy signal. A decent signal but some iron interference for sure. About 10 inches down was this coat sized 1820 great coat button. Although it has a missing shank and some ground action I was thankful to get out of there with it and my life.?lol.

Congratulations on your nice finds! I remember when I attended the Treasure Week HUNT in Pigeon Forge Tn in 1992. The last hunt was the gold coin hunt and I was hit on the ankle by 6 of those yellow jackets and it does hurt.
