I am trying to determine the best beach machine for small gold items such as gold chains or gold earings in the wet salt
sand.

I have been hunting for almost 25 years and used to use a Tesoro Stingray to good affect for gold on the beach, but this
was a heavy machine to carry and had no meter of any kind.

What's the opinion of the forum for a very good, highly sensative, lightweight, deep seeking, wet salt water detector that
can be used on dry land as well.

Minelab ? Tesoro ? White's ?

What is your machine of choice and why...

tell me your story and help me to decide my next major metal detecting purchase.
Thanks in advance

Richard

I have been detceting for many years, my 1st detector was a Whites 5DB bought new in the 70's. I have owned several different detectors and Whites Surf PI is the best detector I have ever used on the beach or underwater, except for the Whites PI 1000 but that got old and died. just my opinion

GOD Bless , Harvest

I was under the impression that PI machines were not that sensative to small gold....
and of course you have to dig every signal..

You do have to dig everything....The PDI is sensitive to gold even at maximum depths. I think it and the Beachhunter are both good shallow water detectors!

Garretts Infin. or sea hunter should both work.

The excal is a wonderful machine but won't pick up gold chains, unless they are wadded up, really large, or have a pendant on it.

Check out the Sand Shark by Tesoro. In my opinion it cannot be beat! Lifetime warranty too.
