3 silver coins and pre WW2!!! Best Birthday ever!!!

Went out metal detecting today for my Birthday and I wasn't expecting what I found.
I found 3 .925 silver coins, first a 1943 shilling, then a 1924 threepence and then a 1944 florin.
As well as that I found a 1921 One penny.

Very good day, but if your coins were the same as ours at the time, I think they stopped being .925 in 1920 & became 50% silver & slightly less in the 1940s until 47 when they stopped.
A two Shilling or Florin was a fair amount of money & its a good find in my books, not something we get often. Happy BD & well done.

The silver coins were made until 1966. The silver content stayed .925 silver until 1945 then was reduced to .500 so all the silver coins I found are .925 silver. Then the production of the silver coins stopped in 1966 and new coins came out.
The only silver coin in 1966 was the 50 cent which was later removed due to its silver content being worth more than the coin itself.

Wow, I never knew that we keep that standard longer than Britain, it makes little sense to me. When trying to save silver we sent more out the country. Seems crazy, thanks for the info.

I found all these coins in under 35 minutes of metal detecting, in fact my second target was the shilling.

The one penny has all pearls and diamonds visible on the crown.
