Very nice, what did it sell for?

Wow Robert, what an amazing find! ;D

I don't know anything about the ages- what years would this coin come from?

The coin sold for £585 and dates to about 70BC, what it would have been worth in Celtic times who knows.

Robert.

Robert.

Still on my list.

Celtic coins were not used like the Romans used coins. As they had no organised tax or monetary system. It was all barter/skill driven. 90% of the populus never had a coin.
Gold Coins were used at the highest levels by Chiefen's who used them in political persuasion. They were used by Druids for ritual purposes & to pay mercenary's their seasons pay. Also used to pay for great feasts which the Celtics enjoyed. Particularly the wine which they traded with the Romans, often swapping many captive slaves from other tribes to pay for it.
The gold was often melted down from Roman coins.
