Today I have an incredible story to tell. Since this is the first time in years I've posted on these forums, I should introduce myself. I'm Kyle. I am a young coin collector who has been collecting old U.S. coins since I was a kid. I have coin roll hunted for several years now, and i've been very lucky to find, among other things: wheat pennies, old Jefferson nickels, Buffalo nickels, silver wartime nickels, and silver dimes. But NOTHING I've ever found in a coin roll hunt compares to what I found today.

These are some interesting halves I found, including the 1967 40% half and some old Walking Liberties from 1917-1920:

I haven't done a complete tally of these coins yet. I do know that the dates range from 1933 to 1958, with several outliers from the 60s, 20s, and teens. I will count the numbers of each date and mintmark and come back to you with a full tally.

UPDATE: I have made a full tally of all of the silver halves, see my most recent post on this thread for link to the tally results video and a text readout of the results.

UPDATE: I have found a possible large cud or struck through grease error on a Walking Liberty Half that I want your guys opinion on. There are photos and description of the coin and error on Page 2 of this thread.

UPDATE: Some exciting news! I may have found a Franklin Half Dollar with a Reverse Die Clash! A post on this thread concerning this coin with pictures is coming soon.

I happy for your finds, but there's profanity in the video. We have young collectors (like you) that you don't have to expose them to that crap. Another reason not to like videos!

There's actually a funny story about that. My original plan was to go to the PNC near my dentist. My dad told me he couldn't do that but he could stop at my local PNC branch on the way. Because of that decision, I scored a HUGE stash of silver, and I have my dad to thank.

Congrats on a big score! My advice, get your dad to take you back to that bank and ask if whoever brought in all the halves brought in anything else - dimes, quarters, cents etc.

In case you're wondering, I am currently cherrypicking the halves for special varieties. I found a 1942-S Walking Liberty with extremely faint initials, very close to no initials. Unfortunately, no 1946 DDRs. I've mentioned a Walking Liberty with an extremely worn date that could be a 1919-D, which I understand is a semi-key date with less than 1.2 million minted. Of course, it could also be a 1939-D, but why would a half from that time be so worn? I'll let you guys know if I find anything good. Happy Hunting!

UPDATE: I have found a 1942-P Walking Liberty Half that appears to have a large cud or struck thru grease error on its reverse.
Here's some photos:


The black areas on the coin I believe to be just patina. There is a raised smooth gray-colored area with scratches in it, covering a significant portion of the letters of "STATES OF AMERICA". Some of it also extends around and onto the eagle's back wing. Right next to the dot at the end of "AMERICA" there are two raised circles not attached to the rim, both the same color as the other raised area. There is weakness in the reeds of the rim in a spot near the error area, and what appears to be excess metal covers and obscures at least three of the reeds.

I hope you guys can give me your opinions on what this is. I appreciate your thoughts on what this error might be!

I'll try to do that tomorrow. It would be the biggest cud I've ever found on a coin.

Of course, the digital camera I'm using has its limitations, so I'll try to get the best pictures I can.

The way it leaks out from itself into the devices makes me believe it's not a cud. I'm thinking lead.
