Best of a two hour hunt

I went out this morning to metal detect. I got the usual farm junk. The first day of Fall was miserably hot in Ohio! But these were a couple neat finds.

What kind of butterfly is that caterpillar? Nice fall asters girl.

Geesh! I have been trying for hours to get this post! Too much internet action, I think.

My best uneducated guess is that it is not a butterfly but a moth.
Gold Moth, Basilodes pepita, an Owlet moth
Family: Noctuidae
Subfamily: Amphipyrinae

It's been hot & humid here as well , Thought I heard a cool front was suppose to come through, but it look's like 85 o + through next Friday.

Great Caterpillar & Flower Finds tho.
