This is a better picture of the short cross coin, that I posted earlier this week. It shows more clearly the strange obverse legend. Don't think it's miss-struck, think the die may have been badly re-worked.

Robert.

Thanks for the post, nice find.

Nice looking coin. Great find.

Great looking coin. Looks double struck as well. Is the reverse in as good of shape?? Nice digs.

Super find! :icon_flower::blob9::icon_flower:

On this old coin, the face & what appears to be his beard & hair all remind me of the sorrowful lion in the movie "Wizard of Oz" -- just my late-night imagination. :laughing7: Andi

Thanks for the pic Rob. It certainly has a strange misstruck look but I agree that may not be the case. It's a beauty

Cheers, yes the reverse is good. There's a pic. in the original post "short crosses and buckles".

I know what you mean by strange but all the legend is correct - HENRICVS REX

It looks double struck in 1 area - the NR - both have a shadowing affect, one R over the other

Hello Cru, yes could be. :thumbsup:

It has a great look to it, and it's got the double strike kind of look, either way it's one beautiful looking piece of silver Rob.

To get one that early and in that condition is definitely the cat's pajamas

Double struck because of worn die with out doubt...still a very nice coin.:thumbsup:

It is double-struck all over! Just look at the lion too!

lol - thats a front facing bust of Henry - thats what I like about these early issues, very crude.
