I would love to know more about that chain and what's on it. Also, any marks on those knives? Bottom one is a match for one in Lyle Stone's book on Colonial Michilimackinac.

Is at a Shield nickle and counterfeit gold coin on the chain?

Counterfeit as in spade guinea gaming token? There are some, with holes associated with North West Company sites.

Nice Eye Mr. Tanner. It is a shield nickle and counterfit $1 gold coin. Chained up undoubtedly as an earing.
