Got out today to a old home site where it was a little slow going but had some interesting finds.

The first hole I dug was a 1935 Buffalo Nickel and one of the last finds was a 1925 wheatie. In between that I managed to find 2 flat buttons and a two piece button. I found both pieces of the two piece button separately about 20 feet apart, but didn't realize they went together until I got home and noticed that the back which was smashed in had marks on it identical to the pattern on the domed front I had found. Two of the most interesting finds are a Flintlock Frizzen and an iron ball that measures about 1.88-1.90 diameter. I'm not sure if the ball is from a ball mill or could it be a cannon ball or canister shot? What do you all think?

No idea on the cannon ball but dated buffalo's are hard to find. Congrats.

GREAT FINDS 462, I FOUND A CATTLE TROUGH

Congrats on some good finds. The Buffalo Nickel is my favorite coin of all time. As a kid I remember taking them to school as "milk money" (that statement alone should date me fairly well). Strangely I have yet to find one.

That was a sweet cattle trough, to bad it did't fit in your finds pouch. Thanks for taking me to the new spot!

Hit it again soon Or when the weather warms up,

Very nice hunt, many interesting finds.

Greetings from Ohio. Nice old site you're on. The frizzen pan alone would make my day. Ker-Pow!

There was a Civil War battle not too far from where it was found, but I'm wondering if it could be older since I found the flintlock frizzen about 20 feet from where I found the ball.
