I'm wondering if your bell is not one that was sold after the devastating fire at Bevin Brothers' business this past May--to raise funds to rebuild their plant. BTW, Bevin is the supplier of the Salvation Army bells and the call bells we see on the counter tops of motels and stores. They made the first bicycle bell. They also made sleigh bells since it was a law to put bells on sleighs to warn pedestrians of their closeness. the company has been around since the 1830s; perhaps the first bell company in the US; certainly the last--at this time.
