Detector(s) used
F75 LTD, 1280X Aquanaut, & a Patriot (back-up/loaner)
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
The company I work for gives gift points for 5 yr, 10 yr, 15yr etc. anniversaries of employment. I sat on my 5 year points and waited until I received my 10 year points. I searched the catalog for metal detectors and decided to use my points on the LRP. It came with the DD coil, is ultra light and uses one 9v battery. The LRP arrived yesterday so I assembled it and hit the neighbors yard to try it out. The hunt lasted for 90 minutes and I noticed that the VDI scale is a little different than the Fisher detectors, but easy to use. I ran it in disc 4 mode and disc'd out iron and foil. The large piece of aluminum was 10 inches deep but the LRP ran in loud and clear as 50 cents. I will use this to teach the neighborhood kids that take an interest in this hobby. It will be my back-up/loaner detector and will use this when I hunt abandoned properties in seedier areas of the 2 local cities. If I get confronted by some less than honorable characters I rather give up the LRP than my F75 LTD SE.

I'd like to give a thank you and shout out to Phantasman for all his posts concerning the BH line of detectors. I found these very useful, informative and greatly assisted me in selecting this detector.

Thanks for the assist Jeff!

Congratz Loco! I hope you enjoy your new detector! I have a couple now that I use for the same type things... seedier areas, loaners, backups, and now the GoFind60 to keep in my car. Good Luck with it!!!

Pretty cool you got it with points from work..can't beat that. The LRP will most likely be my next detector thanks to Phantasman. His posts have been very informative.

Bought my Scorpion to go gold prospecting and did not realize I would like metal detecting in general so much. After a few park hunts with the Scorpion and my sons BH Gold Digger I found myself to be quite fond of it. Park hunting is a different animal than prospecting/nugget shooting and I figure a machine suited for that will be beneficial.

Looking at running the LRP for myself and buying the QDP for my wife as her first detector. Interchangeable coils between the 2 is pretty neat. 2X detectors that can swap coils and both hit 8 inches for under $500...pretty hard to beat.

A TreasurePro and a CoinMaster combo are the other ones we are looking at. But pretty sure we are both sold on the LRP and QDP.

smart man saving those points...too bad u couldnt trade em for bullion!

Congrats LD.

I got my first detector (BH Lone Star), with points from our rewards program at work!

I was teetering between the QDP and the LRP. The LRP came with the DD coil, the coil I am used to swinging, and the QDP came with the 10" concentric so that pretty much sealed the deal, plus I PM'd Phantasman and he concurred. Both the QDP & LRP extremely lightweight (2.5 lbs). I was originally looking for a BH Platinum, since they are a budget version of the more expensive Teknetics Gama (Greek series) detector. There weren't any in the rewards catalog.

I think you 2 will enjoy the 2 detectors (LRP & QDP). I don't think that you'd need to swap coils, just swap detectors. They are both just as capable.

Nice hunt, Loco-Digger.

Most of your items, I can see, were silver hits (or 60 and above). Silver is hot on the LRP/QDP. 20-50 isn't "as" hot, but I'm getting to learn that area better the more I use it.

I'm taking the QDP out to the park tomorrow. So easy to swing.

I have loaned out my Classic ID a few times this year already. Two coworkers borrowed it to find property stakes and my boss has had it for the last month, both he and his wife are interested to see what they can find on their property which used to have a road going through the site. There is a 8 yo boy in the neighborhood, he hangs at our house often and has shown an interest in detecting. I believe the LRP is light enough for him to swing. I plan on teaching him in the grass play ground area in the apartment complex he lives. It should be clad infested and very fun for him to dig up a few bucks in a short amount of time.

Thanks you old buckeye. I even dug a canadian nickle, not bad 1 out of 4 nickle range IDs dug. (3 bottle caps and 1 nickle). The toy cars rang up as quarters.

I plan on air testing it with all kinds of old coins to see what they ring in at on the display verses newer coins.

Gook luck on your hunt tomorrow.

Since we are slow at work I took tomorrow off so I can dirt fish 2 days before I have to return. I plan on helping the neighbor on Saturday so no dirtfishing then.
