Detector(s) used
Learned on Bounty Hunter Junior, then Tracker IV, and now using the Fisher F2
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Hey guys and girls I've been metal detecting for about a couple of months... And used a bounty hunter junior a long time and shaft did break on me so need to upgrade. I was looking at the bounty hunter lines of metal detector and decided that I'm between the tracker iv or the quick silver. No I'm not a beginner and yes I am intermediate but I would really like to stay with bounty hunter. I did a lot of research and I'm against these two so, please help! Thank you :)

Hi well I dont have either of those but have heard alot of good things about there tracker iv but if you looking to upgrade and could afford to spend a little more I would suggest checking out the bountyhunter platinum as that is what I have been using for just little over a year and seems to be very good machine

I use a tracker IV and enjoy it. Works well durable and cheap. U can find them on ebay for around $50. Or do like I did use the hobby lobby coupon for 40% off and u can get one new for $65. The more I use it the more I learn. It will tell u a lot if u can understand the language.

Are you able to find gold and silver? Any gold rings?

I found two silver dimes. A silver pendant and one gold plated ring. It was a cheap one and most if the gold was wore off but air test well on my gold wedding band. I've been using it for about 6 months and would like to upgrade but haven't really decided on what type to get. I find enough targets to keep me happy.

So the two target tone isn't hard to pinpoint? I'm thinking about getting the tracker iv there's always good reviews in it how far down can it detect gold and silver? What about regular clad coins? Thank you!!! :)

The two tone is easy to determine iron from nonferrous. But gets pretty subtle in the gold and nickel range. The more u use it the more u learn. I dig a lot of pull tabs but have dug dimes at over 6". Found a hammer head at about 10". U get a lot for the money and someone is always wanting to go with me. So when I trade up this will be my loaner. Easy to use and effective.

Pinpointing is a little frustrating at first but u get better. Clad coins I have found have been in top soil ,gravel, clay and sand. So depth varies.

Okay the depth sounds good so it can detect gold effectively then? Does it have a high tone? Or just a low tone?
