This buckle was found near the river in Charleston SC on a plantation site that dates from about 1702. The site also saw activity from the Revolution. This thing was DEEP and barely made a whimper on my DFX. Any experts know if it can be identified more than just a BIG buckle?? Thanks in advance....Henry (two pics, before any cleaning, and after CLR bath)

That is a big Buckle, could it be related to a Saddle?

Hi Henry
Thats a mighty big buckle,If my hands are the same size as yours, I calculate
it's 4" long by 2 1/2" wide.
Could be from a wagon or artillery piece. just a guess though.

Dave.
