Spent 5 hours hunting a new stretch of creek in Napa. Ca.

Conditions were perfect.

I gathered a bunch of debitage, several brokes, a handful of flake tools and these points.

A couple of these are pretty nice.

The big one is a brute.

All water-worn obsidian.

very nice … very old I also assume … I have a site in Tn. that produces points very similar but made from local stone , some chert , some jasper , and even some limestone but never obsidian around here . Is the bottom , second row from right a projectile point also ? I always called them chisels , awes , or punches ….. but I'm a hillbilly lol I can picture them on an atlatl spear … just never thought about it.... Gratz , nice finds

Nice finds , you had a great day I bet those are hard to spot in a creek too

I think you are asking about the long skinny bi-point.

I am calling it a projectile point because it's similar in it's shape to others I've found though this particular one is very slim.

As with all but the most obvious real arrows, it's hard for me to know for sure what's a dart or an arrow or a knife.

That's why I value any input these posts can generate.

As for obsidian, it's hard not to love it.

But around here we find very little else and I miss variety.

Like eating steak every night, I'm spoiled.

I've found one green chert knife and I prize it above far fancier obsidian pieces.

However, in the end, I do love the black glass even if I have fantasies of flint, chalcydony and agate.

You aren't kidding.

Nobody's been on those beaches in ages and I just kept finding stuff.

Biggest day by number of finds I ever enjoyed.

Apart from what I posted I found a bunch of flake tools, brokes and high quality debitage.

Also the basalt thingy I posted separately.

That's what I'm thinking. :icon_thumright:

That's a nice day out!! Congrats!
