Went to do my usual nickel searching at the casino today and got four more wartime silvers. ;D The fourth one, 1942-P, was a milestone - my [red]400th[/red] found in since I started hunting casinos in 1985. Woo hoo!! Here's how they break down -

1942-P (23)
1942-S (18)
1943-P (79) [2/9/03]
1943-D (5)
1943-S (79) [2/26/03]
1944-P (46) [8/25/07]
1944-D (20)
1944-S (16)
1945-P (45) [11/9/08]
1945-D (20)
1945-S (49) [12/1/05]

The dates represent the day I completed a full roll.

My last 43-D was found on 8/19/04 and it's been 123 silvers and counting since.

While I'm in a nickel mood, here's the progress I've made filling rolls of those "tough" non-silver years:

1938-D (7)
1938-S (6)
1939-D (4)
1939-S (10)
1941-Large S (29)
1950 (27)
1950-D (3)
1955 (21)

Keep on huntin'!!

Nice finds! So how much money have you lost there to find those nickles? :D

That is HUGE!!! you have done a great job with the sliver nicks. Now I know why I cant find any.

Keep up the great hunting,
Jason

That's my boy!

Nice work Immy!

Congrats to you and your giant hoard of nickels!

400 down... how many to go? =)

Although I could look back on some stats as far as most recent...all but the 1943-D I have found this year so not as interesting.

I have accumulated just over 400 war nickels myself, though about 1-2 dozen were purchased as part of a collection a couple years ago so not all are CRH finds, but almost all are. Also my son has a full set of war nickels and a full book (except 1938-S and 1950-D) which were found that aren't included in these totals.

Total: 423
1942-P (25)
1942-S (23)
1943-P (120)
1943-D (6)
1943-S (62)
1944-P (45)
1944-D (20)
1944-S (11)
1945-P (45)
1945-D (26)
1945-S (40)

And although my roll collection does need 40 because of the books I chose to fill I also need 2 more of each P mint and 1 more of each D and S to fill my books so I am 1 short of the 1945-S roll for example.

Other rolls I have yet to fill (same rules as above apply for P, D, and S mints)
1938-D (9)
1938-S (2)
1939-D (3)
1939-S (9)
1941-Large S (20)
1942-D (31)
1949-S (30)
1950 (25)
1950-D (2)
1951-S (27)
1955 (24)
