We used those big pins with numbers to ID/tag customers salmon on Charter boats to avoid disagreements at the docks.

Commonly used on laundry bags.

Welcome to treasurenet !
I use a pin like that one (three inches) to hold the ends of my kilt down and prevent the kilt from flapping in the wind.
Don.....

Spoilsport! :laughing7:

Ouch! That'd hurt...!

Yikes!
Welcome to TNet! :hello:

We also use to use those on our wrestling warm up suits, that we wore to wrestling meets. Every time you "pinned" an opponent, you received a big pin like that. They did have many uses as others have stated.

It could be a safety pin for a horse banket.

Mark One Mod Zero laundry bag pin!

We had some that appear larger than that one stamped with numbers that corresponded to numbers on the lockers for the pool in college. Two keys for the whole system cut down on the thefts and the janitors spending a week cutting abandoned padlocks off lockers at the end of the year.

Back in the 60s those big pins were used to fasten your hunting license on you coat to show you had a valid license for the year. Haven’t seen one in a long time. Stay safe and keep swingin.
