Big Silver

This is the first Half dollar I have dug. A 1936 Walking Liberty with no mint mark. But there is something going on just past the R in Dollar Looks like a w with an A under it. I do not know if some of these coins were minted with that mark on them any help on the mark would be appreciated.

Congrats on your first half dollar. Always nice finding a large piece of silver in the ground. The "AW" is the designers initial. Weinman designed this and the Mercury Dime, two of our most beautiful coins. Both have his initials. I should add, you should get a copy of the "Redbook", The Guide Book of United States Coins. There's lots of good info in it.

Very nice condition. Red letter day for you! Awesome feeling when you see something that large and that silver come out of the ground. I will never forget my first, of course it was not that long ago, but my hands were shaking and I could barely speak, I just could not believe how big that chunk of silver was. Congrats. GL&HH!
