It's been a long couple of weeks since Hurricane Zeta passed through Biloxi. Overall, I personally, came out pretty good...lost power and had to run on my generator for a few days, but no major wind or water damage to my home or property.
Anyway, the storm really screwed up the local beaches. Below are before and after pics of a pier that I walked under just about every day when looking for point and shards on the beach. The amount of trash and debris that had to be removed everywhere along the beaches and coast highway was significant. A massive amount of sand was pushed in from the storm surge. We had to close the coast highway for days until a foot of sand was removed from it for miles. Also, so much sand was pushed up on the beach it gave the appearance of a significant low tide for many days until nature took it's course and washed it back out to sea.

I have been walking the beach just about every day since Zeta made landfall the evening of Oct 28th. I wasn't sure what to expect regarding the redistribution of artifacts due to the storm surge and flooding. I used to find multiple pottery sherds daily and a point every week or so. Since the storm, I haven't been able to find a decent sized shard yet, and finally today I found my first point since the storm. And it's a beauty...
Thanks for looking.
