Ok, so I haven’t been hunting in almost a year and a half. I bought an Equinox 800 on Saturday the 8th then went to the beach on the 9th. Weather was great and it was great to get back in the water. 20 coins, a couple junk jewelry pieces and the assorted trash. Worked the wet sand on the way back to my car. I got a signal not far from the pier about 5 inches down. I figured it was a can or a pair of sunglasses. Imagine my surprise when out popped an IPhone 11 in very good shape. It had a rubber case and a screen protector on it. Got home and let the phone dry out for a few hours, I cleaned out the charging port and plugged it in. It actually started charging, I couldn’t believe it. I left it alone to charge for a while. I check on it and see a message on the screen saying that the phone has been lost and to call this number. I call and talked to the mother of the girl who lost the phone. It turns out, she lost it 3 weeks ago! It still works after being in the wet sand on a heavily hunted beach! I got her address and mailed it out the next day. Tracking says it was delivered on Friday.
It was a good first hunt with the new detector on my birthday. I’ll be back out tomorrow.
