Got out to a yard I'd hit last week that produced a few coppers, and was chagrined to see some brown spots from some of the holes I'd dug, despite my perfect hole-digging form. 8) The owner wasn't too upset, and I got off with watering the offending plugs. Decided to stay away from the main part of the yard and hit a sidewalk that borders one side of the property. First signal was a dateless SLQ. There were lots of deep memorial pennies, and after digging one i got careless with a shallow signal and shaved the !@#% out of an 1892 Barber Dime.
The Peace Dollar was less than an inch down, and made a totally OBSCENE sound in my headphones. I thought it was a beer can, and apparently so had my hunting buddy.
I gave it to the property owner as a consolation for his spotty yard, on the condition that I could take some pics of it.
Didn't get any coppers, but I don't think I've ever had a day with the silver ratio to wheats and indians so good.
Strange world out there...
