I want to know more about Black Sand. Here in Japan, there is a lot of it on the beaches. You can pick it up with a magnet. Samurai swords were made out of it in the past. I have some small coffee jars filled with black sand that I have removed other sand from. It's almost pure black sand. Heavy stuff. What is the best detector to use on beaches with a lot of black sand on it. I have an old Daytona VLF detector and I can't get it to read anything on the black sand beaches here. That means there must be a lot of accumulated goodies in the beaches here, because no one has been able to use a detector on the beaches here that have black sand. With all the improvements in metal detectors over the years, are there any new detectors that can read through this stuff? What can black sand be used for? Does it have any value? I have mixed it with epoxy making a putty that hardens. A magnet will pick it up. Any comments? Ideas no matter how crazy?
