"Board" Games

Do people still play "board" games anymore?
Perhaps they have went the way of the dinosaur because of all the Wee boxes and such....

When I was a kid growing up, I played any board game that came my way; Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, Risk, Trivial Pursuit, etc.
I also learned many card games that I was good at; Casino, Spades, Pitch, Pinochle, POKER!

What games do you like and do you still play them?

Ah, board games. Gotta love 'em. Played quite a lot over the years but sadly rarely do anymore since no one seems to have the time.

Monopoly - Played this like crazy in my youth with all my siblings. Some games would last for days. Best variation was accumulating all Chance and Community Chest fines into a jackpot which you collected if you landed on the Free Parking space.

Chess - Love it to death. Bought the first electronic games when they came out and have beaten them on occasion. But I don't care for marking down each play on paper or playing by clock, which prevents me from trying out for tournament play.

Scrabble - Might be my fave of all time. I play so rarely anymore that I do a solitaire version where I try to create the highest score possible. 824 is my best.

Risk - Perhaps the last game I played on a regular basis. A buddy of mine would routinely beat the pants off me.

Clue - GREAT family fun, especially when Mom would start getting tired and mis-name the characters. It's not "Mr Mustard" Mom, LOL

Michigan Rummy - Easily our family's favorite card game. Standard game of rummy with jackpots (cups filled with pennies) for certain runs of cards played in sequence. Lotsa tension and excitement!

Those were the days!

Love all te games an play wit grans some an ot a few I play by my self when the daugghhter 1st gggot married tey played wit friends ever week an let me come over !

My friend Stumpy and I would use my mother's cutting board to play mumbley-pegs...

Needless to say, Stumpy wasn't very good at that game

Now that is a board game that builds men and amputees
