bone awl?

I saw Gypsy's post about the fishhook and decided to finally get my butt in gear and post this unusual piece I dug in a cave awhile back . It does'nt seem sturdy enough for an awl and with the incising on it I wonder if it might be a hair pin . Any opinions welcome

Outstanding piece Flip! I like that alot, it's not everyday you can find a piece of engraved bone. Hairpins are usually pretty lightweight and fragile. Awls are typically a little heavier, but I have seen some very slender ones also.
