Bottle with some contents inside

One more for the night and then I'll stop flooding the bottle board until tomorrow.

This bottle still has the cork intact. I had to put some tape on the top because the cork has deteriorated to the point that some of the white residue has the possibility of coming out and I have no clue what it is. I'll have to some to a chemist and see if they might be able to help me out.

Any Ideas?

This is a medicine bottle. You're right to be cautious of the white powder, though the odds are that it's not toxic.

In this case, the cork is still serving a purpose; but, collectors don't care about corks. Corks are often just a shriveled annoyance in the bottom of a collectible bottle. I've fished out, then thrown out quite few nineteenth and even eithteenth century corks. You can buy replacement corks at the hardware store if you want to keep the dust out of a bottle.

This bottle will not help you acquire a new detector. Look for medicine bottles that are embossed and colored.
