Bounty Hunter 202 false signals ?

I'd still be there digging. If you get a signal everytime you go over your hole theres something there.

could be a bigger item that is actually deep. I had something like this a while back and every time I swept the coil over the hole I got a great dime signal. would dig and sweep the hole again and it would still be there. Eventually it turned out to be some big pieces of tin that were a foot or more down. I realize I am posting a few says after your original post but if you have not dug this item up then go back there and swing the coil over the hole to get the signal then keep lifting the coil up off the ground and see where you stop getting the signal. If you are a foot or so off the ground and still getting a signal then it is a big item. Most times this can work with crushed cans also cause they ring as dime/penny range and if you lift the coil off the ground a foot and swing and still get the signal, then it is most likely not a coin.
You still will want to know what this item is so to ease your mind dig away and let us know what it was.

Thanks for the info I am going back today with a BIG shovel, maybe a backhoe.

The first time I ran into this problem with a BH 3000 by Radio Shack it like to drove me nuts. Finally when I looked back I noticed the empty holes ran more or less in a straight line. While I was scratching my head and thinking about it I just happened to look up. Sure enough I was standing under some highline wires. After a little testing, surer enough that was my problem. Since then I have noticed several posts stating they had the same problem with the lower end BH detectors. Now I look up just to be sure I am clear of overhead electric lines. This problem is characterized by a signal that just keeps on beeping no matter how deep or wide you dig. Could it be? Monty

no power lines within a half mile. site was an old farm house torn down this winter only two trees and nothing else. thanks for the info will check tomorrow

I use a BH Sharpshooter II, and have the same situation. I will say that 90% of the time that I do dig deep enough, it turns out to be a crushed aluminum can. Bodyguard

false signals are caused by weak batteries check them if there good there is something there...I always change out 9 volt battries with in 3 weeks depending on use of detector..I also have a DFX...Dave
