Interesting story. I was curious about the line "The ship was sunk by its crew nearly three weeks later on September 24." Did they intentionally sink it? I'd be interested in knowing more on this and will look up the backstory.
As to who owns it, I'm a big fan of finders-keepers generally. In this case, it might be appropriate to give some to the various Holocaust museums.
 

The Nazis scuttled their own ship to keep the loot from getting captured.
 

I'm sure it will ultimately belong to Spain as it will be shown to be a secret design underwater treasure galleon from the 1500's...
 

I hope Iceland gets a share. After all, the wreck is in Icelandic waters. I like Iceland. Best hot springs I have ever soaked in.
