Boy scout sites

Also are these legal to hunt? Public land? And do I need permission for them?

No, they are NOT public land. Scout camps are owned and operated by the scout council. Don't go there unless you have permission.

Ok thanks much! I won't even think about trying there!

Don't give up on the idea. Just ask of you can and say that you would like the opportunity to find lost boy scout items and if you can determine an owner you would like to return it. With you stating your good intentions you're more likely to get a yes..so at least try it.

Thanks guys!

Offer to give a program on metal detecting in exchange for hunting the camp during the off season. Did that back in NJ and had a ball.

In our area public land and a building was donated to the Boy Scouts to use. There is a OLD long gone Boy Scout building that I detected on public land where I found my oldest coin so far along with some Wheaties.

Thanks for the suggestions. What coin was your oldest?

I know it is not old by some standards but old for me so far as I have only been detecting a couple of months. It was a 1913 Barber dime. I still can't believe it. Oh well one coin scratched off the bucket list and on to all the others.

Man I still want a barber! That's a cool find IMO!

I found an old one in my town, that the Boy Scouts used from the 1930'-1960's,I found it years before I had a metal detector, but hunted just with my eyes & a shovel.About 2 months ago I went out there with my Ace 250 and found some stuff, but not much.Found out from an old scout master, that he could remember going out there in the early 1940's before going off to WW2.He thinks I didn't go far enough back off the trail. He said when the weather goes down to around 50,he'll come with me.It's 105 here today.
