Another front yard find for me. I believe it’s a braided hair Liberty head large one cent piece. Would love to pin point the year on it, any suggestions on how to do so would be appreciated I don’t want to ruin by cleaning incorrectly. 789906FE-E9F9-4550-9B75-4F3ED15574D8.webpB55134D9-D1F6-437B-BCD5-DADEAC29AE4A.webp

Hard to tell by the photo. Use lemon juice or vinegar to rid of the patina (oxides) for better visual.

That’s how I find most of mine. I use cold peroxide most times and let it sit for days. However with the verdigris, as in your case, it’s tough since peroxide usually only makes it greener. The only way to neutralize verdigris is acetone. After that and some renaissance wax I’d just let it be.

Nice find, congrats. You could do like scrappy says and after a few days it's softened enough to use a toothpick to work on it. Coat it later.

Use soap and water at first. Use only acetone and Q-tips after.

A gentle rinse shouldnt hurt it .Great find thats a nice coin

Welcome from MI also Tommy
