]Here are an assortment of buttons I stumbled on and hope someone can give me an idea of age and possibly value, if any. The largest button, Pittsburgh Police is 1" in diameter and the back is marked, "N.S. CO. AA QUALITY".

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Hi, I'm guessing the buttons are from around the mid 19th century. I haven't looked it up but that "L" button if I had to guess is "POSSIBLY" some sort of Louisiana militia button. Crossed rifles is also a symbol of the Infantry but I'm not sure when that started. The eagle button looks like a General Staff button of sorts(Civil War era?)If you could please elaborate on "stumbled across". Did you find these tucked away somewhere? If so they could be worth some $$$! If you bought them have them authenticated by an antique dealer. Here's a site that you may find helpful...http://www.thetreasuredepot.com/cayenna/index.html

The middle button in the top row is a US Army "General Service" button (meaning, for use by non-officers). The time-period of the specific form of its eagle emblem is from 1875 to 1901.

top left looks like a 20th C collar stud. Top right is a blazer button imitating an earlier rare button.
