Brass doo-hickey?

Found this thing today and even though I'm sure it's nothing special it's irritating me that I don't know what it is. I'm absolutely sure I've seen another one just like it which just makes it even more annoying. So.... I finally decided to stop looking at it and post it here and let it irritate other people too.

Almost looks like part of the linkage to an old carburetor....the end with the round hole is the pivot and the slotted end possibly for a choke adjustment?
