Hello all,
Here is a brass cap type object that we found at a Union CW camp that we hunt. This area has also been a farm forever. It was found at about 8” which the same depth we are finding the other CW artifacts. I would like to know if it is CW period or not and what it was used for if anyone knows. The coin in the picture is a quarter for scale. There are no internal threads at all so it did not screw on to anything. I have posted this in “Todays Finds” but thought that I would also put it here. If anyone knows what it might be please let me know. Thanks

I never thought of that. Good idea. I just looked on line at photos of antique freeze plug, old tractor freeze plug, Bullseye pattern freeze plug, vintage motor freeze plug etc and did not come up with anything even close. Most all are smooth. Oh well it was exciting for a minute. Thanks

Is it threaded inside? Looks like the tank cap to an oil lantern . . . maybe?
